William Eppley Commits Suicide at Carlisle

Special to The Telegraph

Carlisle, Pa., Oct. 13. - William Eppley, 70 years old, was found dead with a bullet hole in his head, in bed in the home of Dr. Adam Peffer, West High street (sic), yesterday. A revolver was clutched in his right hand, one chamber being empty.

Mr. Eppley, who until his retirement about ten years ago, conducted a grocery business here, was separated from his wife, who was a Miss Hummer, of Silver Spring, before her marriage. The couple separated several years ago, the wife making her home in Harrisburg. It is believed that grief over this separation caused the despondent man to take his life.

Coroner Davis said no inquest was necessary as it was a plain case of suicide.

Besides his wife, Eppley is survived by a son, Louis, of Boston, Mass, a daughter, Ada, married and living in Ohio; a brother James, assistant treasurer of Cumberland county (sic); Charles C. Eppley, U. Grant Eppley, and Oscar Eppley, all of Carlisle.
