Widow of Milferd, died Thursday (4-7-11). Born (12-3-23) in Grimesland, North Carolina to James and Beulah (Sutton) Trippe. WWII U. S. Army Veteran. Served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps for 12 years, retiring in 1950. Donnie was a member of the First-Plymouth Congregational Church, charter member and served on the board of the Lincoln Symphony Guild, was chairman of the Headdress Ball in 1967, a member of the Lancaster County Medical Auxiliary, Community Playhouse Guild, Nebraska Art Association, Wesleyan Arts Council and the YWCA. Donnie received her elementary education in N.C., Virginia and S.C. She graduated from Walterboro High School, Walterboro S.C. in May 1940. She attended University of S.C. one year. She continued her education at Columbia Hospital, Columbia, S.C., graduating as a Registered Nurse in March 1945. Immediately after graduation she entered the Army Nurse Corp at the rank of 2nd Lt. She served in the Army from 1945 1946, stationed at Camp Rucker, Ala. And Memphis General Hospital. In June of 1947 Donnie and Mill moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Mill attended medical school and Donnie worked at Barnes Hospital. Her chief interests were cooking, sewing, gardening and entertaining. Her favorite sport was swimming; her favorite organization was the Lincoln Symphony Guild; her favorite city was New York; and her favorite saying was: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." She would like to leave this message: "Keep me in your heart, but don't mourn me. I plan to be back soon. You know I always liked to travel."
Family members include son, daughter-in-law, Michael and Gayle Epp, Boston, MA; grandson, spouse, Lucas and Jen Epp, San Diego, CA; son, daughter-in-law, Mark and Melissa Epp, and grandson, Ryan Epp, granddaughter, Ashley Epp, all of Lincoln; daughter, son-in-law, Martha Epp-Carter and Marshell Carter, Simpsonville, SC; brother, sister-in-law, James and Hazel Trippe, Greenville, SC; sisters, Marietta Stokes, Salley, SC, Lillian Harnsberger, Fayetteville, NC, Victoria Irby, Atlanta, GA. Preceded in death by husband, Milferd, parents, step-mother, Pearl Lyons, brother-in-law, Jack Harnsberger.
