WATERBURY — Genevieve "Ginny" (Bulger) English, 86, of 389 Chipman St. Ext., passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of A. William English Jr.
Mrs. English was born April 25, 1922, in Hartford, a daughter of the late John (former Waterbury comptroller) and Katherine (Brennan) Bulger. Mrs. English was a graduate of Manhattanville College and a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She loved volunteering and was awarded the Clara Barton Award by the Red Cross for 20 years of service.
She had lived in Waterbury, Middlebury, Conn., Diamond Hill, R.I., Naugatuck, Conn., and Boothbay, Maine.
Besides her loving husband of 61 years, she is survived by her four daughters, Brenda Kirkowski and her husband, Michael, of Camarillo, Calif., Kathy McLaughlin and her husband, Thomas, of Naugatuck, Dorann Poynter of Azusa, Calif., and Eileen Lee of Waterbury; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 785 Highland Ave., Waterbury. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, is in charge of the arrangements.
