Died Monday afternoon, March 22, 1999. Pauline was born July 14, 1908 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of William and Minnie (Winslow) Engel, and had been a lifelong area resident. For many years she had taken care of her parents in their home. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and always had pets that she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert in 1979; and by her sisters and brothers, Violet Leach, Vernie Davidson, Laura Bartholomew, Ilona Kriston, John Engel and Amos Engel. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Jacqueline Strong, Bill Engel, Barbara Johnson, Joy Heiter, Carl Davidson, Patricia McCaffrey; several grand-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with Rev. Charles R. Hulbert officiating. A private interment will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be at the chapel one hour prior to service time on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or the Salvation Army.
