Carlos Encinias, 67, died April 20, 2005, in Raton. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Raton, the son of Jose and Cordelia (Martinez) Encinias. He was a member of St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
He supported his country as a member of both the U.S. Army and the U.S Navy. He served in Vietnam with the Navy Sea-bees. He was a member of the UMWA while working in the Colorado coal mines. Carlos retired as the Colfax County undersheriff in 1997 after 22 years with the department.
He was preceded in death by his father Jose M. Encinias, brothers Edward, John and Mark Encinias.
He is survived by wife Jeannette (Machado }Encinias of the family home in Raton, sons Paul and Jeff, daughters Bernadette and finace Tomas Medina and Rochelle, two grandsons, Tomas Encinias of Albuquerque and Alex Muniz Jr. of Raton, four granddaughters, Tamara, Nikki Jo, Amber Rose and Tabitha Encinias, all of Raton, mother Cordelia Encinas, sister Vivian Slaughter, brothers Louie, George and wife Mary, Fred and wife Marcella, all of Raton, numerous nieces and nephews along with cherished friends near and far.
A Rosary Devotional Service will be held Saturday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Chrsitian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Father George Silva as the celebrant. Rite of committal and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetry.
Funeral arrangements for Carlos Encinias are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
