MANUEL ENCINIAS, 106, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
He worked in the Las Vegas, N.M. area with the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. He was an active foster grandparent member for over 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Acension and Emelia Encinias; first wife, Isabelita Gomez Encinias; second wife, Eumilia Encinias; sons, Delio Encinias, Labriano Encinias, Servando Encinias, and Fermin Encinias and wife Arabela; and daughters, Adelmida Encinias and Alice Santillanes.
He is survived by his daughters, Tillie Benavidez of Las Vegas, N.M. and Esther and Arecenio Lucero of Ojitos Frios; sons, Ascension Encinias and Alicia, Santiago Encinias, Narciso Encinias and Tina, Abelino Encinias, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; 62 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at San Jose Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M.
