Audie Louise (Emily) Blackaby, 88, of Xenia, died Wednesday after a long illness. She was born August 27, 1923 in Henderson, KY, the daughter of Robert L. and Birdie Emily. She was one of 14 children.She married James R. Blackaby on April 13, 1946. They moved to the Xenia area in 1948. They had three children who survive, Randy (Karen) Blackaby of Medway; Kerry (Sheryl) Blackaby of Xenia and Brenda Santos of Xenia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Joshua (Shawn) Blackaby of Louisville; Josiah (Melissa) Blackaby of Xenia; Ezra (Stephanie) Blackaby of Xenia; Amos Andrew Blackaby of San Diego; Jason (Abby) Blackaby of Franklin; Brian (Erin) Blackaby of Xenia; Stephen Santos of Xenia and Michael Vannorsdall of Xenia. Additionally, she is survived by 10 great grandchildren: Will Cena Blackaby of Louisville; Ethan and Landon Blackaby and Bridgett Funderburg of Xenia; Jayden, Reagan, Kamryn and Gavin Blackaby of Xenia; Micah Blackaby of Franklin and Aubree Blackaby of Xenia. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003. Mrs. Blackaby was a homemaker and office manager for Blackaby Home Improvements for many years. She was valedictorian of her high school class in Henderson in 1941. She was a welder on the construction of landing ship tanks (LSTs) on the Ohio River during World War II. She was a Christian and a member of the Knollwood Church of Christ in Beavercreek. Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Randy Blackaby, Keith Greer, and Heath Rogers officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
