Shirley M. (Emig) Crowl, 84, died Friday, October 14, 2011, at Select Specialty-York Hospital. She was the wife of Robert E. Crowl, who died on June 27, 1987.
Mrs. Crowl was born October 3, 1927, in Hanover, and was the daughter of the late Jesse V. and Evelyn E. (Beck) Emig.
She was a homemaker and a member of Salem U.M. Church in Windsor. She loved taking care of children for working mothers for many years, going to the Revs ball games, and spending time with her family. Her presence will be greatly missed.
Leaving to cherish her memory are a daughter, Linda M. Shanks and husband, Doug of Preston, Md.; three sons, Philip E. Crowl and wife, Geraldine, and Barry A. Crowl, all of Red Lion, and Daniel L. Crowl of York; six grandchildren, Mark Shanks, Amie Crowl Gladfelter, Jesse Crowl, Sr., Terri Williams, Tina Crowl, and Sarah Snyder; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Shanks, Jesse Crowl, Jr., Elizabeth Crowl, Michaela Gladfelter, Colby Crowl, and Stevie Williams; two sisters, Jean Throne and Joann Appleby of York; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Crowl Snyder, and a brother, Gary Emig.
Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
