Patsy Ruth Ansel, 78, of North Platte, NE, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Patsy was born February 27, 1932, at Shawnee, OK, to Lucian Ludlow and Lena Jane Robertson Ellzey. She attended schools in Oklahoma and Louisiana and graduated from New Iberia, LA. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwest Bell Telephone Company at Elk City, OK. On September 8, 1951, Patsy married Herschel Harrison Ansel at Elk City. After Herschel''s military service they moved to North Platte in 1952 where they worked in ranching and owned Ansel Feed Service. In 1979, they moved to Lincoln, NE, with Herschel''s job, CF, and in 1992 returned to North Platte and retired.
Patsy was a member of the First Christian Church and past member of Tryon Chapter of Rebekah''s and was active in different extension clubs. She was an accomplished seamstress and liked working with crafts. Patsy loved gardening and flowers. She always had a positive attitude.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Herschel, and daughter, Mary Kay (Larry) Schick all of North Platte; two sons, Benjamin (Toni) Ansel of Roosevelt, UT and Patrick (Brenda) Ansel of Dumas, TX; seven grandchildren, Staci, Katie, Andrea, Benji, Elisabeth, Nicole and James; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Jocelyn, Brylee, Garrison and Emilee Ruth; a sister, Helen Mathern of Homa, LA; a brother, William (Phyllis) Ellzey of Norman, OK; several nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Betty Broughton and Mary Skinner.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Cindy Ballard officiating. Burial in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
