Lewistown-Janet W. Ball, 87, died at 5:46 PM, Friday, March 2, 2011 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

She was born on February 8, 1925 in Canton to Merle and Clara Crockett Ellsworth. She married Virgil Ball on December 8, 1945 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1999. Surviving are two children Pam (Robert) Elkin of South Carolina, John (Karen) Ball of rural Lewistown, one brother John (Donita) Ellsworth of Canton, three grandchildren, Jason (Naomi) Elkin, Kimberly (Kyle Terpstra) Elkin, Leigh (Mike) Tiffany and five great-grandchildren, Grant, Sofia, Tristan, Maggie and Carlie. Five brothers, Harold, Robert, William, Maurice and Meredith Ellsworth and four sisters Francis Ekstrand, Ellen Lindquist, Virgina Lock and Bessie Williams preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Canton and was a charter member of the VFW "Golden Girls" in Lewistown. Graveside services will held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton with the Rev. Daniel DeBeer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:45-10:45 AM at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lewistown VFW Post #5001 or the Carnegie Library in Lewistown.
