'Colchester Woman Who Fractures Hip Dies'

Mrs. William Black, 88, of Colchester R.R. 3, died at 10:15 last night at the St. Francis Hospital, where she had been a patient since Monday because of a hip fracture. Coroner Vernett Roberts conducted an inquiry and found that her death resulted from the broken hip, sustained in a fall Monday at Colchester.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fandon Christian Church. The Rev. Ernest Louderman will officiate, and burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Mrs. Black was born in Chalmers Township, a daughter of William and Sis ( Burns ) Ellis. She lived in the Long Nine community northeast of Fandon, and also lived in Fandon and Eagle communities. For several years she resided in Kansas. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She and William Black were married Aug. 25, 1881 and would have celebrated their 71st anniversary this year.

He survives with five sons and daughters, Mrs. Dora Rigg, Colchester, R.R. 3 ; Roy Black and Mrs. Opal Bainter, Macomb, R.R. 4 ; William Black, Peoria and Ora Black, Avon, R.R. 3. Fifteen grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren survive.

A daughter, Mrs. Bessie Redding ; a son, Isaac ; and an infant son ; a brother, Lafe Ellis, and three sisters, Mary Houston, Belle Barton and Lora Fowler, are deceased.

Friends may call at the Chapel of Jones Mortuary at Colchester until Friday afternoon, when the body will be removed to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dora Rigg.

Harriet was born on March 13, 1864 in Chalmers Township as a daughter of William & Sis ( Burns ) Ellis.

She married William Black on August 25, 1881.

He survives, including the following children : Mrs. Dora Rigg, Roy Black, Mrs. Opal Bainter, William Black, Ora Black.
