On Wednesday afternoon the sad news of the death of Mrs. Harriett Martin wife of Anthony Martin was received with a degree of sadness which only the passing away from time to eternity is able to produce. Mrs. Martin's home was on South Main Street, she had resided here for many years. Was the wife of Anthony Martin; Janitor at central ward school building. They raised a large family five of whom are living and share with the father the sadness which death brings into the quiet home.
The deceased was a sister of Butler and Jesse Ellis and had many relatives and friends who will mourn her loss. Had not been in good health for some time but an attack of pneumonia for the last ten days of her existence was more than she was able to stand. Day by day it could be seen that her strength was failing and at 3 o'clock on Wednesday the death angel laid his icy hand upon her pale brow and the once animate form was soon in the cold embrace of death.
The deceased was a woman loved by her neighbors for her many most excellent traits of character. She leaves besides a husband five children vis: S. A. Martin, Mrs. Steve O'Hair, Ray and Sherman of this city, and Chas. Martin in Oregon, a telegram Immediately received from the later stating he would be home. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. J. R Hanley, Sunday afternoon the remains will be Interred in Oakland cemetery.
