Died 5:37 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 1994, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 62, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was an attorney and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Duane L. Breaux. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by wife, Joyce D'Aubin Ellis, Baton Rouge; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela E. and Charles Stoewer, Baton Rouge; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick J. and Tania Ellis, Prairieville, R. Charles and Monica Ellis, Sunshine, David C. and Jennifer Ellis, Baton Rouge; a sister, Louise Ellis, Hammond; two brothers, Thomas Ellis, Metairie, and Richard Ellis, Collins, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Frederick Andrew Ellis and Katherine M. Ellis, both of Prairieville. Preceded in death by parents, Rufus and Amelia Ellis; and a brother, Rufus Ellis Jr. Pallbearers will be Frederick J. Ellis, R. Charles Ellis, David C. Ellis, Charles A. Stoewer, J. Arthur Smith III, Richard C. D'Aubin and John L. D'Aubin. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, former special assistant Attorney General in the Tidelands Litigation, former L.S.U. Law Professor, former editor and chief of the Louisiana Law Review, member of the Order of the COIF, Phi Delta Phi, Louisiana Bar Association and Louisiana State Law Institute. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge or the American Cancer Society.
