"Entered Into Eternal Rest Friday, Jan. 7, 1977"

Mrs. James (Wanda) Church, 35, Brodhead, died unexpectedly Friday, January 7 at St. Clare Hospital after she had walked in with a headache. She had been taken to the hospital by a daughter when she complained of feeling ill. An autopsy is being conducted.

Mrs. Church had been employed as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. A. Zakaria, dentist, since June. Previously she had worked in her father's cafe, Ray's Cafe, Brodhead.

The former Wanda Lee Elliott was born in Hanover Oct. 9, 1941, the daughter of Ray and Opal Weaver Elliott. She attended Juda High School. She was married to James Church Nov. 22, 1969, in Roscoe, Ill. She had moved from Juda to Brodhead in 1968. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead.

Surviving are her husband, her parents; paternal step-grandmother, Mrs. Marie Elliott, Ozark, Mo.; four daughters, Karen, Kathy and Kelly, all at home, and Kimberly, Union Grove; and four sisters, Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Schwartzlow, Rt. 2, Brodhead, Mrs. Lowell (Joyce) Arnsmeier, Brodhead, Mrs. Bruce (Debra) Capps, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Barbara Elliott, Brodhead; and three brothers, Charles Ray, Colorado Springs, Colo., Tilton, Loves Park, Ill., and Clayton, Brodhead.

A brother, Donald, preceded her in death in November, 1974, and a son, Joseph, in infancy.

Services were held Monday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Ronald E. Massen officiating. Mrs. Bruce Timm sang "In the Garden" and "Come ye Disconsolate" accompanied by Paula Haroldson. Pallbearers were: Clifford Gilbert, Douglas Knight, Charles Pryce, Harold Sedgwick, Terry Bumsted, Brodhead and Fred Bell, Roscoe, Ill.

The Newcomer Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead.
