A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, in Valley Hope Community Church in Hillsboro for Marjorie M. Caire, who died of cancer Nov. 5 at age 74.
Mrs. Caire was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Portland. Her maiden name was Elliott. She was the great-great-grandaughter of Oregon pioneer Charlie McKay, who was one of the original signers declaring the Oregon Territory self-governing.
She graduated from Washington High School. She worked in the shipyards during World War II. She married James in 1943.
She lived in Wisconsin, Boston, New Orleans, Seattle, Galveston, Texas, and returned to Portland in 1954. She retired from Tektronix Inc. in 1984 after 28 years. She was a production manager and financial administrator at the corporate office. She was co-owner of Cairisma Handmade Crafts.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Leslie Meharry of Vancouver, Wash., and Denise Caire of Hillsboro; son, Michael of Beaverton; and four grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
