Alice Lucille Ellam Born September 11, 1915, in Berkeley, passed away, at the age of 90, on June 3, 2006, at Summerville Creekside. Alice and her beloved, devoted husband, Grover Brian, who passed away in 1974, were the first couple to be married in the Grace Lutheran Church, El Cerrito, after is was constructed. They were also one of the first to build their own home on what became Kerr Avenue in Kensington, in 1951. Alice who was sweet and soft hearted, used to love playing tennis in her youth with Bobby Riggs, enjoyed reading, going to the library and driving around in the car. She was a devoted Lutheran, loved and tirelessly supported by her Pastor Vern Olsen and his wonderful wife Carol. Alice survived by her youngest brother Albert Gibbs, of Santa Rosa and his two sons Stephen and Stanley. Also survived by her beloved two children, her devoted son and caregiver for many years, Laurence Ellam, his wife Tracy, whose love and everlasting devotion cannot be measured by words, and her loving daughter Judith Ellam-Swank, of Florida. Her only granddaughter, Jaimee Hennings, of Richmond, was adored by her grandmother. Alice has two nieces, Jennifer Ninnis, her husband, Ken Nakamura, Trinidad, Jennifer's daughter Alisa Quirey, her husband, Julio Giannotti in San Diego and her second niece, Nancy Oyer, and her son Mark. Special thanks to Charlie Swank, Gertrude Headly and Elspeth Carlo, for their continued love and support. A special heartfelt thank you to Nancy and Edwin Quenzel, Alice and Brian's partners in business and were there for Alice at all times. Alice will be dearly missed by her best friend, who she could not have been closer too, her companion, caregiver and special pal Vivian Vidal. Vivian would pick up Alice and take her on all kinds of adventures. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Summerville at Creekside, Sharon Haanstra, and Pathway's Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Alice.
