Services for Douglas A. Elerath of McMinnville will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors. The Rev. Charles McCarthy of the United Methodist Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mr. Elerath died Feb. 3, 1989, in his home. He was 61.

He was born April 22, 1927, in Portland, the son of Byron A. and Dorothy Skei Elerath. He was educated in Portland, Oakland, Calif., and Sheridan and was graduated from Sheridan High School.

Her served in the Coast Guard during World War II. After the war he attended Linfield College for two years.

Mr. Elerath married Barbara Bellinger on Dec. 31, 1947, in McMinnville.

Mr. Elerath worked at U.S. Plywood in Willamina for 10 years, then became a self-employed log truck driver. He then worked for the C.C. Meisel Co., in McMinnville for 17 years as a truck driver.

He was a member of the McMinnville Lodge 1283 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Elerath; four sons, Dan Elerath and Mitch Elerath, both of McMinnville, David Elerath of Las Vegas and Mike Elerath of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Susan Knable of Bridgton, Maine; his mother, Dorothy Elerath of Dallas; a brother, Everett Elerath of Ashland; a sister, Barbara Freeman of Monmouth; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadowwood Speech Camp, in care of the McMinnville Elks Lodge, or to the American Cancer Society in care of Macy & Son, 135 N. Evans St., McMinnville 97128.
