Emily and her husband, Neri were one of the founding families of Pasco County, Florida. Sadly, the couple lost their entire citrus grove during the Great Freeze of 1895. Neri became extremely depressed and began to drink heavily. Emily divorced Neri around the turn of the century over his continued drinking. She was raised in a Christian home, her father was a preacher and she refused to continue to put up with her husband's drinking. (I attempted to order her death certificate but they do not have one for an Emily Eiland that died between 1910-1920 so I am assuming that is because she remarried so further research is required).
