SARAH MORGAN EILAND
Mrs. Sarah Morgan Eiland, age 86, passed away in her sleep Sunday, April 12, 2009. She was born September 10, 1922, in New Orleans, LA, to Chadwick Lehman Morgan and Florence Vivian Morgan. Her husband, Oma Cecil Eiland, preceded Mrs. Eiland in death in 1972. She was the beloved mother of Barbara Eiland Farr, Whiting, NJ and Dr. C. Morgan Eiland, Birmingham, AL.
She is also survived by her son-in-law, Leroy A. Farr, daughter-in-law, Dr. Susan Horton Eiland, five grandchildren, Dr. Patricia Farr Schnur, Bradenton, FL, Dr. Sherry Farr Mus, Atlanta, GA, Andrew A. Farr, Raleigh, NC, Susanna Horton Eiland, New York, NY and Morgan Bryan Eiland, Ann Arbor, MI, four great grandchildren, Benjamin Schnur, Sarah Schnur, Daniel Schnur and Vivian Mus. She is also survived by her long time friends Frances Goldbach, Ruth McDonald and Juliaette Laing, all of Pensacola, FL.
Mrs. Eiland was a long time resident of Pensacola. For many years, she was a member, choir member and Sunday school teacher at Richards Memorial United Methodist Church. For twenty years she taught kindergarten at Tiny Tot Kindergarten, Brownsville, and was a positive influence in the lives of many children. Her yearly musicals were remarkable.
Mrs. Eiland joined Florida Chapter #9, Order of Eastern Star, on July 18, 1944. In 1962, she served as Esther followed by Chaplain in 1964. She began to advance through the chairs in 1965, when she became Associate Conductress. In 1968, she became Worthy Matron of Florida Chapter #9, Order of Eastern Star. In July 1994, she received her Fifty Year Membership Certificate.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Richards Memorial Methodist Church. The family has requested that anyone wishing to give a memorial consider the community outreach program called God's Ministry, Richard's Memorial United Methodist Church, 2600 West Strong St., Pensacola, FL 32505.
