NEW PALTZ: Owen Eickler, 60, of New Paltz died Jan. 10 at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston after a long illness. Mr. Eickler was a truck driver for the Veterans Administration Medical center in Montrose for 33 years until his retirement in 1983. He lived in New Paltz since 1978, coming from Peekskill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Eickler was born July 23, 1926 in Peekskill to John and Isabel Newell Eickler. He was educated in Peekskill schools. He was married to Betty Curran who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Susan Patton and Joanne Eickler, both of New Paltz; three brothers, James E. Eickler of Fort Plain, Kenneth Eickler of Verplanck and Harold Eickler of Bloomington, Conn.; a sister, Isabel Gilio of Peekskill; and two grandchildren.
