Taken To Hartland

The remains of Andrew Egge who died Friday morning in this city at the home of his son on Euclid Street, were taken to Hartland by one of his sons Saturday afternoon.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon, Rev. Nervig formerly of Albert Lea, but now of New Richland will officiate.
The body will be laid to rest beside the remains of his wife in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Egge preceded her husband eight years ago.

Was Civil War Veteran
Andrew A. Egge, who passed away Friday, was an old soldier of the Civil War, we are told. He fought during the entire four years under General Grant and was held in Libby prison six months.
When released he was nothing but skin and bones and his feet were swollen to twice the normal size from exposure.

Residence: Frankville Township near Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. Born in Norway.
Civil War: Age 23. Enlisted for three years on 10 Oct 1861 at Decorah, Iowa. Mustered 5 Nov 1861 as a Corporal. Missing in action 5 Apr 1862, Shiloh, Tennessee. Wounded 4 Oct 1862, Corinth, Mississippi. Treated for scurvy and heart disease at Annapolis, Maryland, and at St. Louis, Missouri. Said he took part in battles at Fort Henry, Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Jackson, Vicksburg, Tupelo, Nashville and Spanish Fort. Was prisoner of war for six months at Macon, Georgia, and Catawba, Alabama, and Libby. Said he was taken prisoner at Shiloh on 6 Apr 1862. Exchanged about 3 Nov 1862. Rejoined his regiment in spring of 1863. Mustered out 20 Jan 1866, Memphis, Tennessee.
