Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and dear friend, Dwane S. Egan "Dugan", age 67, passed peacefully from this life on July 26, 2009 in Kaysville, Utah surrounded by his family.

Dwane was born August 17, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Delbert Hatch Egan and Vera Page.

He graduated from Olympus High School, served a full time mission in the West Mexican Mission, and married Jeri Lynne Butterworth on October 3, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dwane was a compassionate, loving, gentle giant. He will be remembered as the embodiment of all that is noble and virtuous. He wanted nothing more than to see others around him lifted up and spent his life endeavoring to bless all with whom he came in contact.

He taught us all a firm and abiding love of God, country, fishing, and good humor. He was the master of the witty one liner and always had a special treat to share. If he was not sharing a good joke then it was the message of the restored gospel and his unwavering belief that God loves everyone. He loved his family, especially his queen and sweetheart Jeri, his greatest desire was for her happiness and joy.

No grandpa loved or enjoyed his grandkids more than he did. His legacy is one of faith in God, service to others, compassion for the one and the courage to live life as it came. This was exemplified by his faithful service in many church callings, including service as a counselor for more than 13 years at the Utah State Prison.

He survived lung cancer as a young father and endured the struggles of a frail failing body with patience and dignity. He proved that one man can strive with his last ounce of courage and leave the world a better place.

Dwane is survived by his beloved wife Jeri; his children, Melissa (Bill) Meyers; Jeff (Monica) Egan; Steve (Laurie) Egan; Emily (Lourenco) DaSilva; his siblings, Jean (Jerry) Gerrard; Richard Egan; Mark (Kris) Egan; Joycelyn (Ken) Allred; Marie (Charles) Whitaker; as well as 13 grandchildren. Dwane was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 31, 2009 in the Winder Fifth Ward Chapel, 1361 East 4000 South, East Millcreek. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek, and at 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the Church.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
