MARS HILL: Letha Jo Edwards Bass, 92, of 100 Phillips Valley Rd. passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at John F. Keever Solace Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late Wesley and Jane West Edwards. Letha is also preceded in death by her husband Arthur Bass, daughter, Jane Griffin, son-in-law, Ronald Griffin, brother, Paul Edwards and sister, Lena Harris and She was formerly employed at Micro Switch and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Judy Freeman and husband Charles of Marshall, grandchildren, Kim Freeman (Tim Drake), Brian Freeman (Helen) and Gary Griffin (Teresa), great grandchildren; Morgan and McKenzie Freeman, Matt Griffin, Mary Kate Griffin and Amber Griffin and great-great grandchild, Peyton Pressley, sister-in-law, Jean Edwards of Marshall, nephew, Mike Edwards and niece, Paula Wyatt.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Danny Jenkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons and nephew will serve at pallbearers.
