STATESBORO, GA - Mrs. Dorothy Edwards Gay, age 84, died Friday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA. The Jacksonville, Florida native lived in Macon Georgia and Statesboro, Georgia for most of her life. She retired from the Henderson Library at Georgia Southern University following many years of service. While residing in Macon, Mrs. Gay held several positions with C&S Bank. Mrs. Gay was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and a former member of the choir. She also was the pre-school choir instructor for five years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gay. -Surviving are a daughter, Faith Gay of New York, New York; a grandson, Jack McBryde of New York; and two sisters, Evelyn Kelly of Charleston, SC and Gail Harris of Marlton, New Jersey. Mrs. Gay was also survived by many nieces and nephews including two who were very special to her and assisted with her care, Tim and Jane Gay. -Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. -Funeral services will be Sunday at 2P.M. in the chapel of the Statesboro First Baptist Church with Dr. John Waters officiating. The body will lie in state at the chapel one hour prior to the service. -Interment will be in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro. -The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Statesboro First Baptist Church Nursing Ministry, 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458. -Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com. -Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
