Wichita B47 Falls Aflame

WINDSOR, Mo. (AP)-A B47 bomber from McConnell Air Force Base at Wichita crashed in flames Monday, narrowly missing a school and an automobile on a county road.

A spokesman at McConnell said the four men aboard the plane were:
Capt. Herbert J. Edwards, 36, instructor pilot from Austin, Tex.
Maj. Edgar Jodoin, 35, student pilot from Oxford, Mass.
1st Lt. Robert L. Westrup, 24 student co-pilot from Albany, Ore
A.1.C. James H. Redmond, 21, the flight engineer, from Bay
Shore, N. Y.

Westrup's body was recovered the Air Force said. Westrup was born and reared at Lyons, Kan. Four of his sisters live there. The plane exploded when it hit the ground five miles northeast of Windsor in west-central Missouri. The blast tore a hole 20 feet deep and 30 feet in diameter beside Route B.
