For more than eighty years a resident of this county, a pioneer of Kentucky and beloved by an extensive circle of friends and acquaintances was Mrs. Ruhamia Edrington, who died at the home of her son, G. M. Edrington, last Saturday night. Mrs. Edrington had been in feeble health for some time, due to the infirmities which come with advanced age. Last Tuesday night about 7 o'clock, she was stricken with a paralytic stroke, rendering her unconscious, and she never rallied, lingering until Saturday night at 8:30 when like a child in a deep slumber her spirit passed into the presence of her Savior. Loving family watched by the dear one as her life ebbed slowly and gently away, tender hands administered whatever could be done to make her condition easier and physicians were at hand to prescribe for her relief, but all was of no avail. She was past all earthly help and aid came only when she answered the summons from Him, who alone can relieve the pains and griefs of this earth. A pioneer of the State, of the county and of the city as well as the Baptist church, the deceased had become acquainted with many, and the many loved her and will lament her death. All of her life was spent in Taylor County. She was born within a few miles of this city over eighty years ago, and this county and city has been her home ever since. Mrs. Edrington was a devout Christian, having given her soul into the keeping of God when a girl, and for sixty-one years was a communicant of the Baptist church. George Edrington, her husband, died 1892, and since that time she has lived with some of his children. She had no children of her own, but her last days were made comfortable by the children of her husband. In their grief over her demise, they have the sympathy of many friends. The funeral took place from the Baptist church where she had so long loved to worship, Monday forenoon at 10 o'clock, Rev. R. F. Jaudon officiating. Interment followed at Brookside Cemetery.
