Final tribute was paid Thursday afternoon to Colonel W.B. Edmundson, aged 88 years, beloved resident, who passed away Tuesday morning following a lingering illness at his home on the Wilder Place.
Services were conducted, in St. John's Episcopal Church, of which Col. Edmundson had been a vestryman for many years, by the rector, Rev. Oliver C. Cox, assisted by a former rector, Rev. Peter M. Dennis, now of Birmingham.
The impressive Masonic service was conducted at the grave.
Scores of plantation negroes, paying their last homage to their kindly friend and benefactor, occupied seats in the parish house at the church and stood silently and tearfully at the cemetery as Col. Edmundson was laid to rest.
