Chugiak resident N. Pearl Edmundson Blodgett, 76, died Jan. 11 at Alaska Regional Hospital. A funeral was conducted at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel, with visitation.
Mrs. Blodgett was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Banks, Ore. She graduated from high school and moved to Alaska in September 1965. She lived in Ketchikan for one year before moving to Chugiak. Mrs. Blodgett was a member of Eagle Auxiliary #4174, United Pentecostal Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post #33 and the VFW Auxiliary. Her son said: "Mom was a very private person who raised her own children and was a surrogate mother to many others."
She is survived by two sons, Arthur Brown Sr. of Chugiak and Jessie Brown of San Francisco; two brothers, Bob Edmundson and Jim Edmundson, both of Springfield, Ore.; four stepchildren; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.
