Billy Edmondson

WALNUT RIDGE -- Billy Mack Edmondson, 68, of Walnut Ridge passed away Saturday, March 3, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Hoxie on Nov. 23, 1938, to Opal Irvin and Preston Moore Edmondson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean; three children and their spouses, Alan Mack Edmondson and wife Catherine of Blairsville, Ga., William Scott Edmondson and wife Andrea of Cherokee Village, and Lee Ann Edmondson Graddy and husband Steve of Jonesboro; a sister, Sandra Edmondson of Walnut Ridge; six grandchildren, Mary Catherine Edmondson, Payton Moore Edmondson, Alan Mack Edmondson Jr., William Andrew Edmondson, Preston Lee Graddy and Reed Jackson Graddy.

He was a 1956 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. Following high school he served four years in the United States Air Force. He attended Arkansas State University and in later years Williams Baptist College.

In 1960 he married Jean Colwell.

Bill was agency manager for Farm Bureau Insurance in Lawrence County for 38 years and enjoyed cattle farming as his hobby. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Walnut Ridge and the Masonic Lodge.

Greg Evans, Charles Petty, Mike Spain, Douglas Wayland, Ray Mosely and Bill Whitlow will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John Elders, Mike Glenn, Ben Robert Bush and Weldon "Bubby" Holder.

For memorials the family asks that you please consider the Building Fund of First United Methodist Church of Walnut Ridge, P.O. Box 66, Walnut Ridge 72476, or the Lawrence County Resource Council.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in First United Methodist Church at Walnut Ridge with the Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight in the church with arrangements by Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.
