COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be Feb. 25 for Bruce and Bonnie Tifft of Cottage Grove, who died Feb. 18 in an airplane accident.
Bruce Allen Tifft, 55, was born July 11, 1929, in Allentown, Penn. Bonnie Ann Tifft, 53, was born March 10, 1941, in McKeesport, Penn. They were married June 11, 1968, in New Orleans and moved from Mariposa, Calif., to Cottage Grove in 1989.
The owner of B & T Propellers, Bruce Tifft handcrafted airplane propellers for experimental aircraft. He created the prototype propeller for the Voyager airplane that flew around the world. Hen enjoyed flying, water skiing and camping.
Bonnie Tifft, who had worked for the county personnel department in Mariposa, was office manager at Lincoln Middle School in Cottage Grove. She enjoyed flying, gardening, crafts and boating. Both she and her husband were members of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Survivors include his parents, Edward and Margaret Tifft of Cottage Grove; his brother, Frank of Mariposa; his sisters, Sally Kaufman of Lawndale, Calif., and Kathleen Cooper of Redondo Beach, Calif.; her sisters, Betty Dennis of Valley Center, Calif., Dolores Payne of San Marcus, Calif., Sarah Vogt of Bel Air, Calif., and Donna Anderson of Cottage Grove; and her brothers, Harry Edison and Howard Edison, both of Kennewick, Wash.
Saturday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Their ashes will be scattered from an airplane. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donors' choice.
