ANAMOSA…..Funeral services for Celena H. Cross, 61, were held Wednesday at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello, with burial in Wayne Zion cemetery. Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated.
Mrs. Cross died Sunday, Jan. 13, at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, after a lingering illness.
She was born near Amber June 28, 1912 to Carl and Marie Eden and received her early education in Jones county rural schools.
Married to Mark Cross, June 24, 1937, the couple lived most of their married life in Jones County.
She is survived by her husband; three children, William of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Eldon (Betty Jean) Neumann of Beloit, Wis., and Keith of Center Jct.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hilligardt and Mrs. Ida Ray, both of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Henry Eden, Anamosa, and Carl Eden, Taralta.
Her parents, a sister, Mrs. Sadie Wehling and two infant sisters preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Ivan Eden, Allan Eden, Carl Wehling, George Wood, Charles Coulbourn and Raymond Fare, Jr.
