Elizabeth was the daughter of Reuben A. Eddleman and Mary Ann Cruse. Her father was a Methodist preacher. They moved to Arkansas where she married Robert E. Byrd. They moved to Texas about 1856 and lived in Parker county. They were pioneer families along with her father and some of Elizabeth's siblings. Robert E. and Elizabeth had the following children: M.A. (female), William A., Thomas R., Jeff D., Robert S., Lydia Z., Susan Ollie, Epsie A., and Louisa F. Byrd. Elizabeth and Robert took over the Belmont Hotel in Snyder for a short time before her death.
