Funeral services for Anne Eckmann, age 85, of Bloomfield will be Tuesday February 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. Reverend Nathan Swenson-Reinhold will officiate with burial in the Bloomfield cemetery.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the church.

She died Friday February 16, 2007, at Bloomfield Good Samaritan Center.

Anna Martha Matilda Eckmann, daughter of Henry and Maria Huttmann was born on August 17, 1921, near Bloomfield. She was baptized at St. Marks Lutheran church in Bloomfield on October 23, 1921 and confirmed there on March 25, 1934. Anne attended country school Dist. 42 through the 8th grade. She worked as a housekeeper in Bloomfield before she married Johannes (Hans) Eckmann on October 20, 1940 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born, a son Gene A. Eckmann and a daughter Peggy A. Schrader both of Bloomfield. The couple farmed in the Bloomfield and Lindy Areas for many years. As a busy farmwife and mother Anne raised a big garden and potato patch as well as helping with the farming and livestock. With her family she raised and cleaned for sale, hundreds of chickens. While in the Lindy community she was a member of the Friendly Times Club and president of Good Samaritan Auxiliary. Anne served as chairperson for the Lindy Bicentennial in 1976. The Eckmanns belonged to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at Lindy where Anne was an active member of the Lutheran Church Women and served as Sunday School Superintendent for seven years. Anne and Hans moved to Bloomfield after a farm sale in 1983. Hans passed away in 1987. While living in Bloomfield, Anne was employed by the Waldbaum Company, Good Samaritan Center and later as head housekeeper at the Chateau Motel in Yankton, SD. Anne moved to the Crofton Cottonwood Villa in 1994 and later to Verdigre before returning to Crofton and then moving back to Bloomfield in 2000 at the Sunset Assisted Living. Anne entered the Good Samaritan Center in February 2004 where she passed away on February 16, 2007 at the age of 85.

Survivors include her children, Gene and Janet Eckmann and Peggy and Dennis Schrader of Bloomfield; 5 grandchildren, Dr. Rhett and Julia Eckmann of West Point, NE, Reed and Cecilia Eckmann of Bloomfield, Paige and Troy Poppe of Bloomfield, Regg Eckmann of Bloomfield and Riley and Casey Schmeckpeper of Omaha; 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Freda Lemke of Peoria, AZ and Mary Ann Holmquist of Ravenna, NE; 2 sister in-laws, Gladys Eckmann and Marian Huttmann both of Bloomfield, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Hans Eckmann, brothers, William, Helmut, Emil and Ernest Huttmann and sister, Emma Raduechel.

The family of Anne Eckmann appreciates your presence today, and thanks you for your support. All are invited to have fellowship and lunch at the church following the committal service.
