Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 24, 1978:

The toils and cares of life ended for Nellie on October 26, 1978, when it pleased the Lord to call her to Himself. Nellie, the eldest of nine children, was born to Cornelius and Lydia Eck on June 18, 1906, at Hooker, Oklahoma. At an early age, her family moved to Durham, Kansas, where she received her elementary education. In 1927, the family moved to Copeland, Kansas, then in 1937, to Winton, California, which remained home till her death.
At the early age of fourteen, Nellie yielded to the call of her Master and was baptized on May 9, 1920, into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Min. F. C. Fricke. Nellie's steadfastness and devotion to her Lord was exemplified in her daily walk of life, ready and willing to help where she could. Many a young mother or family load was made light by Nellie being there to help. Through this readiness and willingness, she gave much. She loved to attend church and sewing circle. She also had a deep concern and prayed often for the salvation of her family. Much of the family care was Nellie's after losing her father earlier in life; she helped maintain a home for her mother and sister Myrtle. After the passing of her mother on February 28, 1969, she was left to walk life's pathway with sister Myrtle some over nine years. This is a vacancy that Myrtle will feel so keenly, yet with fond memories of a loving sister.
She leaves to mourn: three brothers: William and wife Linda, Hilmar, California; Jacob and wife Rosella, Buhl, Idaho; John and wife Edna, Copeland, Kansas; three sisters: Mabel, Mrs. Dewey Unruh, Barnett, Missouri; Myrtle; and Esther, Mrs. Ernie Ratzlaff, both of Winton, California; one aunt, Minnie Voth, also of Winton; besides nieces and nephews. Her father, mother, and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held October 30, 1978, in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Winton, California, with Min. John Jantz and Min. Leon Koehn officiating. Short graveside services were by Min. Edward Jantz of Scio, Oregon. Burial was in the Winton Cemetery.
