M. E. EATON SUCCUMBS IN VERNAL
Marcus Elonzo (Fon) Eaton died February 13 at 7:45 a.m. in the Uintah County Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1898 in Vernal to Orlando Henson Eaton and Harriet Percilla Richins Eaton. He married Nellie Merle Fisher in Vernal . The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, July 15, 1918. She died August 27, 1962. He married Mary P. Winn.
Mr. Eaton was a former partner of Lloyds Motor Service (American Motors Dealer), worked in gilsonite mines for 10 years at Bonanza, hauled freight with his father as a young man with teams, four horses, was in the logging and timber business for several years, loved to hunt and fish and was an Elder in the Vernal First Ward.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, one daughter, Lloyd E., Veldon F and Mrs. Ray (Norma) Murray; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Ezra S. Eaton, all of Vernal.
The funeral services were conducted by Bishop Curtis Hunsaker in the Vernal First Ward Chapel.
Family prayers was offered by Leon Hatch. Prelude and postlude was by Melba Eaton. The first musical, "Round-Up Time in Heaven," was by Duane Hall and Thelma Thacker.
Remarks were by Sheryl Pyper followed by the first speaker, Bishop Hunsaker. Dorothy Luck, accompanied by Eva Hatch sang "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose."
The concluding speaker was Ralph Siddoway. Don Walker and Marva Lent sang the closing song, "Going Home". They were accompanied by Ruth Walker. Benediction was by Ray Hamson.
Dedication of the grave was by Lloyd Eaton. Pallbearers were Dennis Eaton, Cloyd Eaton, Veldon Eaton, Terry Murray, Randy Murray and Larry Eaton. Honorary pallbearer was Robert V. Eaton.
Out-of-town guests were Kathleen Ahrnsbrakm, Mindy and Cloyd Eaton, Provo; Patsy Fiaher Skaar, Ogden; Wyona and Don Lamb, Ogden; Duaine and Marba Keetch, Salt Lake City; George and Larue Fisher, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, Sr., all of Altamont; Mr. and Mrs. J. McCormick, Lou Anne Eaton, all of Pleasant Grove; Ellie and Valoy Eaton, Granger; Neldon and Betty Eaton, Craig, Colorado; Terry and Corrine Murray, Delta; Janice and Kevin Messersmith, Pleasant Grove.

Marcus Elfonzo "Fon" Eaton is the son of Harriet Percilla Richens and Orlando Henson Eaton. He married Nellie Merle Fisher July 15, 1918 in Vernal, Utah.
They have four children.
