MATTOON — Margaret Pauline (Easton) Cox, 85, of Mattoon, died at 1:42 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Heath Center.

Funeral services honoring her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, 1804 S. 9th Street, Mattoon, IL with Reverend Larry Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Mattoon, IL. Schilling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret was born on January 10, 1927 in Mattoon the daughter of Omer and Inza. (Reagin) Easton. She married Ralph E. Cox on July 9, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Connie Cox; son, Roger Cox; brother, Wendell Easton and identical twin sister, Charlotte Jean Lawyer.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph E. Cox of Mattoon; four daughters, Karen Bateman and husband Ron of Mattoon, IL; Carol Huckstead and fiancé Jack Howard of Mattoon, IL; Anita Kaufman and husband Bernie of Mattoon, IL and Sandra Winter of Keaau, HI; five brothers, Kenneth Easton of IL; Harold Easton of IL; C. Dean Easton of IL; Robert Easton of IL and William Easton of AZ; three sisters, Marilyn Janes of IL; Sharon Dalton of AZ and Virginia Driskell of IL.

Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mattoon for over 50 years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and worked at First National Bank for 15 years. Margaret retired from First Federal Savings and Loan where she was named the first woman officer as Secretary Treasurer. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Illini fan. Margaret enjoyed camping and completing crossword puzzles.

Most of all, Margaret was a devoted wife of 65 years, a loving mother, a caring grandmother to eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
