Ethel M. Brandt, age 85, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of La Grange, Missouri, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Magnolia Square Nursing Home in Springfield. She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in La Grange a daughter of Floyd and Effie Cason East. She married Harold Brandt on March 21, 1937, in La Grange. He died Oct. 8, 1989. Mrs. Brandt was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo., and had previously been a member of First Baptist Church in La Grange for 65 years, where she was very active. She had also been a member of the Hilltop Garden Club in La Grange. Survivors include two sons, Lee Roy Brandt of Ankeny, Iowa, and Larry Brandt and his wife, Ann, of Springfield, Mo. She was called Grandma Honey by the following grandchildren: Jim Brandt and his wife, K'Ann, of Ankeny, Melanie Anundsen and her husband, Erik, of Decorah, Iowa, Edward Brandt of Springfield, Ben Brandt of Springfield, and Andrew Brandt and his wife, Hollie, of Springfield; six great- grandchildren, Hunter, Trevor, Spencer, Samantha, Stephanie Brandt and Nicki Anundsen; one great-great- grandchild, Madyson Coffer; three sisters, Jane White of Pamyra, Mo., Vertie Cook of Taylor, Mo., and Flosie Foust of La Grange; many nieces nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wed., June 14, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. Dean Collings and Rev. Jim Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Mark's Cemetery in La Grange. Visitation will be held today, June 13, 2006, from 4 until 8 p.m. with family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange. The family suggest memorials be made to Magnolia Square Nursing Home in Springfield or to Season Hospice of Springfield.
