The English News Mar 9, 1945 "Cecil Kenneth East, son of Peter and Lurie East was born in Crawford County on May 16, 1903, and died in Newcastle, on Feb 23, 1945, at the age of 45 years, 9 months and 7 days.
He was converted at the age of 13 years and united with the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church. He moved with his parents to Terre Haute in 1922. In 1923, he received a letter of "dismissal" from the Pleasant Ridge Church to unite with the Tabernacle Baptist church in Terre Haute.
He was afflicated from babyhood and his condition became worse as he grew older. On July 18,1925, he was placed in the Indiana Village for the Epileptics at Newcastle, where he died. He lived a christians life, never losing an opportunity to invite anyone with whom he meet to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
He is survived by his parents, one brother, Percy East of Kentland; one sister, Mrs Kathleen Galloway of Winton, Wyo; two nephews Norman and Glenn East;two nieces, Mildred and Jean Galloway; and a host of other relatives and friends. A sister, Violet May, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Raymond Hammock, pastor of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church. Burial in the nearby cemetery.
