Betsy was born and raised in Excelsior Springs and graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in the class of 1952. On May 18, 1952, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Dean Easley. They made their home in Excelsior Springs, where they were blessed with seven children. Over the years they purchased farms, worked the land, and performed custom hay baling and hauling for several area residents.
In addition to raising her children and helping on the farm, she worked several different jobs over the years including sewing factory, school bus driver, and retired from being a rural mail carrier after 20+ years with the Postal Service.
After retirement Betsy enjoyed traveling and helping others. She went on a mission to South Africa, went to Holland to see the tulips, and took various trips with her church group and friends. Betsy was an excellent card player, playing hand and foot or crazy canasta with a group of friends on a weekly basis for many years.
Betsy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 18, 1998 and her daughter, Patsy Dean Easley Martin Nugent on September 9, 1993.
Betsy is survived by her children, Judy Jane Latondress and husband, Brandon James of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Earl Paul Easley and wife, Laura Jo of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Jimmy Eugene Easley and wife, Janet Alane of Hamilton, Mo., Ricky Rex Easley and wife, Dianna Lee of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Roger Allen Easley and wife, Dianna Yvonne of Slidell, Texas, and Rose Lee Easley of Castle Rock, Colo.
Additionally her legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren includes Julie Christine Huffman and children, Sandra Jane and Christopher Leroy; Johnathan Easley Wendel; Jenny Lee Wendel; Jeffrey Christopher Wendel; Ryan James Latondress; Christine Marie Latondress; Dr. Dillen Paul Easley and wife, Nicole Christine and children, Peyten Paul, Paige Christine and Piper Jo; Dr. Kelly Jo Sandri and husband, Daniel Campbell and daughter, Alya Jo; Jami Jean Houk and husband, Donnie Lynn and children, Drew Addison, Chase Mitchell, Cole Paxton, and Presli Arabella; Nancy Marie Thomas and husband, Bo John and children, Fisher Ayres and Owen Emerson; Derek Eugene Easley; Matthew David Watt; Brandon James Watt and wife, Kristi Lee and daughters, Hailey Rae and Paige Elizabeth; Tyler Justin Watt; and Danielle Alana and David Poynter and daughter, Makenna Alaine; Kimberly Dean Easley and husband, Keith Elliott Bellemore and daughter, Elyse Dean; Richelle Jean Easley and daughter, Erica Jean; Richard Allen Easley; Monika Nikole Mansfield and husband, Daniel Wilton and soon to be born son, Landon Cohen; and Kristin Renee Brown.
Other survivors include her twin sister, Betty Jean Bailey and husband, Marshall; brother-in-law, Leonard Eugene “Abner” Easley and his wife, Delores; and several other relatives and many many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment following service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Liberty Hospice or American Cancer Society.
