Graveside service for (Herbert) Elvis Earp,Jr., age 74, of Lawton Oklahoma will be in Highland Cemetery, Lawton. Mr. Earp died Wednesday Dec 6, 1995 in a Lawton hospital of Leukemia. He was born Jun 15, 1921, in Alix Arkansas and grew up and attended school in Ozark Arkansas. He attended Ozark High School and instrument and fire control training in Fort Meade Maryland. Earp served in the Army during World War II from Jun 25, 1941, until he was discharged Jul 23, 1945. Jennie R. Garner and he married on Sep 23, 1950 in Rossville Georgia.He was a civil service employee with Engineers and Fire Control. He had lived in Lawton for the past 33 years, moving to Lawton from Fort Smith Arkansas.

Mr. Earp had received the following awards and medals: American Defense Service Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; AP Service Ribbon and three Bronze Service Stars; American Theater Service Ribbon; Purple Heart; Philippine Liberation and European African Middle Eastern Theater.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Earp; two sons; Clark Earp and Garner Earp, both of Lawton; a daughter, Jeannie Wagner, Glenwood Iowa; a sister, Ruby Cummings, Van Buren Arkansas; and three grandchildren. Note: he is also survived by two half sisters: Shirley Earp Mahurin, of Tulsa Oklahoma and Hazel Earp McNeely of Commerce Oklahoma.
