Mae Early Cox, 88, of Harrisonburg died Wednesday morning at Camelot Hall Nursing Home, where she had lived since May 1980.
Mrs. Cox, formerly of 437 S. Mason St., was born Jan. 25, 1895, at McGaheysville and was a daughter of the late Rev. Henry C. and Mary Showalter Early.
She worked for the U.S. Treasury Department before retiring and was past matron of the Ruth Chapter of Eastern Star. Mrs. Cox was a member of the First Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg.
Her husband, William W. Cox, died March 20, 1962.
Surviving are a daughter, Florence W. Horn of Falls Church; two stepsons, Ferris B. Filley of Sun City, Ariz., and Norman Cox of Dayton; a stepdaughter, Frances C. Rusmisel of Bridgewater; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Port Republic by the Rev. Robert E. Houff.
The Kyger-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
