Ellen "Eloise" Craddock, age 93, of Brunswick, passed away on March 5, 2012.
Eloise was born in Nicholasville, KY on November 13, 1918 to Charles C. and Blanche E. (nee Wilson) Early.
She was 18 months old before her father saw her as he was serving in the Army in Germany during WWII. Her family moved to Cleveland when she was a young child and later moved to North Royalton. She graduated from North Royalton High School in 1935. She married Louis W. Craddock on June 11, 1938. They had four children and moved to Brunswick in 1945. They ran a dairy farm at Bennett's Corners while Louie worked a full-time job in addition to farming. In 1958 the farm was sold and the Colony Park development was built on the property. The family continues to live on part of the farm in the house that was built as part of the sales agreement. As a farm wife, Eloise had a large garden and canned many fruits and vegetables each summer. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She made many wedding cakes for her children, family and friends over the years. She worked for WJW Radio (Storer Broadcasting) for over 20 years and was the Director of Broadcast Standards at the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Bennett's Corners Community United Methodist Church for over 65 years. At various times she served as a Lay Leader, Conference Delegate, Sunday School Teacher, newsletter editor, choir member, and held offices in the United Methodist Women. She was made an honorary member of the United Methodist Men in recognition of her many years of helping at the Turkey Dinner and other fundraisers.
Eloise is survived by her children, Eloise Varacky, Carl ‘Bud' (Diane), Harry (Peggy), and David Craddock. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Lorie (Michael Manto) Craddock, Christopher (Paula) Varacky, Julie (Craig) Reed, Jeffrey (Dawn) Craddock, and Michelle (Dan) Grahovac, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Louie, brothers Charles E. Early, Jr. and Gene M. Early.
