Pioneer Woman Passes Away Near Brownsville
Brownsville, April 19
Mrs. Margaret Josephine Allnett died here Saturday night, April 17, of infirmities due to old age. Mrs. Allnett was born in Maryland, May 16, 1841, coming to California in 1853 with an ox team. She rode horseback the entire distance helping to drive 150 head of cattle. Landing at Stone House, four miles south of Bangor, she lived there many years where she married Will Kimball. Three children were born of this union. Afterwards marrying Jesse J. Allnett, she moved to Tehema Co., where she lived until her husband's death in 1875. Removing to Yuba County, she spent the remainder of her life near Bangor and at Browns Valley. Mrs. Josephine Rumer of Oakland, Mrs. T. R. Merrill of Los Angeles, and J.W. Allnett of Brownsville survive.
