Born 8th of 9 children, in Flager, Colorado, she was a graduate of Callahan High School and Blair Business College of Colorado Springs. She was a proud member of the California Women's Bowling Association, the Avocado Women's Bowling Association for 50 years, and an avid traveler.
Helen worked for the Marine Corps Exchange and the Camp Pendleton Bowling Center for 30 years. After her retirement, she worked part-time at the Pacific Marine Credit Union so she could fulfill her dream of traveling to all 50 states and beyond.
Helen is survived by her sisters, Hazel Perry, Mildred Zitting and Marie Christensen; her brother, Herb Eads; her children, Susan Ramsey and Lon Awbrey; grandchildren, Beth Richards, Jacob Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Haylee Richards; and her many dear friends.
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, February 6, at Browne Center Social Hall on Camp Pendleton. Helen will be interned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com Published in North County Times on February 2, 2010
