HOPKINTON - Joanne (Eadie) Doherty, 52, of Hopkinton, formerly of Needham, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

She was the wife of Daniel J. Doherty for 28 years.

Born in Needham, daughter of David and Norma (Dawson) Eadie of Falmouth, she was a graduate of Needham High School, Class of 1972 and Northeastern University. A talented sketch artist, she sketched various historical scenes of Needham for greeting cards sold by Taylor's Stationery.

As a college student in 1973, she worked at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, embarking on a hospital career that spanned more than 33 years. She worked several years in the Radiology Department before moving on to be a technologist in nuclear medicine. Mrs. Doherty worked at the hospital until two months ago, when she left due to her illness.

She had been a resident of Hopkinton for 18 years.

Besides her husband and parents, she leaves her children, Jennifer B. and Brett T. Doherty of Hopkinton; her brother, Gregg I. Eadie of Sacramento, Calif,; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 4, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave., Needham.

Burial will be in Needham Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held today, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation for the Cancer Care Center, Att: Joan Archer, 2014 Washington St., Newton, MA 02462.
