Delwin Elbert Eggleston, 93, of Midland, died on Friday, April 1, 2011, in Big Spring.

Burial will be in Nolan County. He was born May 12, 1917, in Dallas, Wisconsin to Earl and Lottie Eggleston. His childhood was spent in northern Wisconsin and he graduated from Barron High School, attending the University of Wisconsin in Madison for two years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army. While attending mechanics school in Baltimore, Maryland, he married Dorothy Sergeant of Sheldon, Wisconsin, on May 9, 1942. He served his country in Africa and Italy. Later, he spent a year in Korea during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son Ronald Eggleston and wife Joan of Grand Prairie, TX; daughters, Rebecca Pounds of Temple, TX, Virginia Escue and husband John of Bastrop, TX, Nancy Slay and husband Jimmy of Tyler, TX, Kathleen Johnston and husband Raymond of Kingwood, TX, Dana Roepke and husband Tim of Midland, TX, 15 grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dale Michael; his parents; and a brother, Shelby.
