Heinrich Wilhelm Dursthoff was born on April 9, 1790 in Osnabruck, Lower Saxony, Germany. His parents were Georg Heinrich Dursthoff (a secretary for the government in Osnabruck) and Katharina Rebecca Steingrafen. In 1815, Heinrich moved to Dresden. Five years later, he established a liquor and dry yeast Company at Friedrichstrasse 19 in Dresden-Friedrichstadt (the Manteuffelsche Brauhaus or Manteuffel Brewery). Then on November 1, 1826 he married Anna Marie Engel Eckelmann (daughter of Friederich Rudolph Eckelmann and Catharine Marie Elisabeth Kleinschnier) in Bohmte, Lower Saxony, Germany. They had three known children named Johanna Rebecca Auguste (Frau Felix August Heink),
Theodore Marie Louise, and Marie Dorothea Henriette (Frau Gotthelf Franz Adolph Lehmann). The Dursthoffs lived and worked at Friedrichstrasse 19 (the Manteuffel Brewery) which was next to the old Forsthaus (today it is no. 64). Heinrich died on March 20, 1837. His business was then managed by Johann Ludwig Bramsch. Johann married Heinrich's widow on February 24, 1838 in Tharandt, Saxony, Germany. They had five children together. The Bramsch family lived and worked at the Poppelmann house which was located at the back of Friedrichstrasse 26 (today it is no. 52).
