JON STERLING DURST

Jon Sterling Durst was born June 1, 1955. He passed away on October 29, 2008, his family at his bedside.

Jon leaves his wife of 27 years Cheryl, son Travis and daughter Christina (Nina), mother Terri Durst, niece Nicole McIntyre, and mother and father-in-law Bev and Dar Jewell. They will all miss him greatly.

Jon, a native San Diegan, graduated from Madison High School. He joined the Army shortly after graduation and was stationed in Germany for about a year.

Following in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather, Cedric Durst, Jon loved sports of all kinds and all levels, playing, watching, coaching (baseball, softball, soccer, etc.) and supporting Travis and Christina in whatever sport they wished to play and, like the devoted father that he was, made certain that the rest of the family knew when and where the games were to be played. Jon was also an avid Chargers and Padres fan.

In 1985, Jon began a 17 year career in the aerospace industry with Continental DataGraphics. He later divided periods of his time between San Diego and Seattle working alongside his counterparts at Boeing.

Per Jon's request, there will be no formal Service. Family and friends will Celebrate his life on Friday, November 14th, at Santee Lakes #5, 1 to 4 p.m. Casual attire or Chargers gear is suggested.
