Adrian Jackson Durant Jr., 83, of Champaign, Illinois, died at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 31, 2005) at home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1922 in Columbia, Mo. to A.J. and Jean Heckert Durant Sr. He was preceded in death by a sister. He married Jaqueline Hall on Sept. 14, 1947 in Columbia, Mo. She survives.

He is also survived by three sons, William Noel Durant, Jackson Henry Durant and Daniel Norman Durant; two daughters, Rebecca Durant-Hunter and Carol Adrian "Cookie" Rosa; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Florence Roberts and Katharine Cleaveland.


He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Following World War II, he remained in the Army Reserves, serving in the Missouri National Guard. He was promoted to colonel several years before he retired and remained in the LOG command in Urbana.
