IRON RIVER-Lucille A. Anderson, 88, of 311 7th Ave., died Dec. 3 at Iron River Nursing Home.
She was born April 15, 1903 in Commonwealth, Wis., the daughter of the late Emile and Corrine Durand. She attended the Florence, Wis. schools and the Milwaukee Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. On August 8, 1928 she married Leonard Anderson in Florence and the couple moved to Iron River to make their home. She was employed by the Iron River public schools and taught from 1951 until her retirement in 1967. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959 and a sister Antoinette Roach. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Third Order of Mt. Carmel and the Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by one son James of Iron River; two daughters, Nancy Anderson of Iron River and Mary Beth Sanneman of Nashua, New Hampshire; two brothers, Bernard and Hector Durand both of Milwaukee, Wis.; three sisters, Cecile Steffen of Milwaukee, Evelyn Cleary of Butler, Wis. and Jane Swanson of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Dec. 6 at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River where the Daughters of Isabella and the parish recited the rosary.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7 at Jacobs Funeral Home and at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Aloysius Hasenberg offering the Mass of Christian Burial.
The Daughters of Isabella formed an Honor Guard at the Funeral service.
Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery.

Magnus Nelson married Augusta Anderson, a widow. His stepchildren included Leonard Anderson. Leonard, born May 12, 1902, was a carpenter employed by Proksch Lumber Co. and Phoenix Lumber & Supply. He married Lucille Durand and they had three children: James, Nancy, and Mary Beth, Mrs. Richard Sanneman.
OBITUARY of Leonard Anderson 1959 says he married Lucille Durand of Commonwealth and she is a teacher at Central School.
